The Passage

In this church 12 year old boys are initiated into manhood with a special ritual called the "Passage." The boys learned what is expected of them as Black men and are encouraged to assume responsibility for their deeds. Based on Nathan Hare's research into the diminishing Black male presence, the play makes strong points about the nee for Black men to assume responsibility for the boys of the church and the community in general. 12 characters
